This was a private little project to try to insert and use a CG prop into some live footage. The footage was shot with my old video camera, so the quality of the original images were not good. It seems like nearly every 3D enthusiast, whether a hobbyist or a working professional, has at least briefly flirted with space animations. Its been done and re-done so many times, its got age spots, and yet there are few things more enjoyable to create than a nice explosion, a big sizzling energy beam, or maybe just a huge organic looking space ship bristling with laser cannon and ram-scoops.
